My research interests lie in computer vision, shape modeling, medical shape visualization & measurement, and geometry-based image processing with applications in greyscale, color, volumetric (medical) images, and movies.

    Movies and Images:

A movie depicting the reconstruction of human thighs and the thigh bone (femur) from a three dimensional CT image; the simulation is started by placing a collection of spherical blobs in the image domain.

The second movie shows the evolutionary stages in the reconstruction of an image corrupted with noise; another example showing stages in denoising a medical image.

The third movie depicts the reconstruction of heart chambers from a three dimensional image. Initial configuration in this case corresponds to a set of ellipsoids.

The fourth movie shows chambers of a beating heart along with the change in volume and surface area (click here). These surfaces were reconstructed from a time sequence of three dimensional images.

Finally, here is a movie depicting the reconstruction of the complete cortical structure of the human brain. The reconstruction is done from MRI data. Reconstruction results (outer skin and the brain shape) based on this work have appeared on the cover of May-June, 1997 issue of the American Scientist.

Some Results from tha Visual Human Data Set:

Segmentation of liver, spleen, and lung shapes are shown here. User initialization and visualization of the curves and surfaces was done using the VTK environment.
